If the machine-made paper or bamboo pulp content is less than 60%, it is normal and it is recommended to use ink with a heavier colloid content.

Regular practice : Choose 4 feet 3 inches or 4 feet 4 inches to avoid cutting waste;

Large-scale creations : Customized six-foot or eight-foot pieces must be booked 30 days in advance.

Beginners : It is recommended to use grid paper to assist with structure positioning and reduce the difficulty of pen control;

Advanced users : It is recommended to use plain paper to avoid the grid interfering with the creative rhythm.

Observe the fibers : irregular bamboo fiber edges can be seen on the edges of handmade paper, while the edges of machine-made paper are neat and smooth;

Light transmittance test : Handmade paper shows a cloud-like fiber texture when light is transmitted through it, while machine-made paper shows a uniform grid-like texture.

Handmade rough-edged paper : Made of pure bamboo pulp, it has a thick texture, uneven fiber distribution but strong toughness, and a sandy friction feeling when writing, which is suitable for expressing pen stroke details;
Machine-made rough-edged paper : Mechanically pressed, smooth surface and thin, easy to absorb ink but cheap, suitable for beginners to practice

Choose according to your writing needs:
Xuan paper : It has strong ink absorption and is suitable for freehand painting, but it requires high pen control, so beginners should use it with caution.
Xuan paper : After adding alum, it does not absorb ink, and is suitable for fine brushwork or small calligraphy;
Semi-raw Xuan paper : Friendly to beginners, compatible with most scripts such as running script and official script.

Use semi-cooked or cooked rice paper, or adjust the ink concentration.

It is difficult to control ink on craft paper, so it is recommended to practice with plain paper; later on, you can choose craft paper for creation.

Wolf hair has good elasticity and is suitable for regular script, goat hair can hold more ink and is suitable for running script and cursive script, and mixed hair (wolf and goat mixture) has both elasticity and cost-effectiveness and is recommended for beginners.

It is normal for the pen to shed slightly for the first time. If the hair shedding continues, please contact us.

After use, wash off any remaining ink at the base of the pen with clean water, hang it to dry in the shade, and avoid exposure to sunlight or prolonged soaking.

It is recommended to prepare large size (for writing large characters/inscriptions), medium size (for regular writing), and small size (for small characters/outlining), and choose flexibly according to creative needs.

It is recommended to include semi-cooked rough paper, a medium-sized mixed-hair brush, practice ink, an inkstone/ink dish, and felt.
