The Merits of Copying Scriptures

🪷1. Eliminate sins and karma and turn them into blessings

  1. Purify past karma : copying sutras can transform past sins, reducing the severity of serious sins and eliminating minor sins.
  2. Keep away from disasters : You will always be protected by the guardian gods, and avoid sudden disasters such as fire, water, thieves, plague, and imprisonment.
  3. Resolve grievances and untie knots : resolve the entanglement of enemies and creditors from past lives, and forever get rid of the pain of revenge.

✨2. Increase happiness and auspiciousness in this life

  1. Physical and mental health : no nightmares at night, peaceful daily life, radiant complexion, and abundant energy.
  2. Long-lasting blessings and fortune : Those who copy scriptures sincerely will naturally have abundant food and clothing, a harmonious family, and long-lasting blessings.
  3. Respected and loved by humans and gods : Your words and actions please everyone, and you are respected wherever you go.

🌟3 . Wisdom inspires and changes destiny

  1. Foolishness turns to wisdom : developing inherent wisdom can turn those in trouble into those who are prosperous.
  2. From sick to healthy : The sick gradually recover and their body and mind are in harmony.
  3. Majestic appearance : Due to accumulated merits, one will have a handsome appearance and outstanding talents in the next life.

🌱Fourth , benefit all living beings and accumulate merits

  1. Plant good roots : sow the seeds of liberation for all sentient beings.
  2. Dedication of Merits : Dedicate the merits of copying sutras back to the Dharma Realm to help the deceased ascend to heaven and the sick recover.
  3. Achieve Buddhahood : accumulate the resources to become a Buddha and ultimately attain supreme Bodhi.

⚠️The key to achieving perfect merit

  • Reverence is the basis : Show respect by "sitting upright with clean hands, burning incense and reciting verses" (see the specific method instructions for details).
  • Quality over quantity : Focusing on the present moment with every stroke is far better than hastily copying thousands of volumes.
  • Giving without form : Do not be attached to the form of merit, so as to understand the emptiness of Prajna.
The sutra says: "Copying even a line or half a sentence of the sutra can fulfill a great wish." This is a special practice that runs through the three worlds. It not only benefits worldly happiness, but also serves as a boat to ultimate liberation.
